# AI receptionists compared

An AI receptionist answers your business line, asks callers what they need, and books, transfers or takes a message. Below is every AI receptionist and AI phone agent we track, with each vendor’s published price, trial, booking, transfer, HIPAA and language details, linked to the page we read it on.

> **We make Vocenya. Here’s how we rank, and where others may fit you better.** Every vendor here, ours included, is shown with the same fields, sourced from its own website and ordered by the same published rule. Nobody pays to be listed. Where another tool may fit you better, we say so.

## Ready-made product or developer platform?

Two very different kinds of product show up when you search for an AI receptionist.

- **Ready-made products** are set up from a dashboard: you give them your hours, services and calendar, and forward your number. Prices are usually a monthly plan with included minutes or calls.
- **Developer platforms** are toolkits for building a voice agent. They usually bill per minute and leave the phone number, the models and the setup to you or an agency. They can do almost anything, but someone has to build and maintain it.

The "Type" label on each vendor tells you which one you are looking at. If nobody on your team writes code, start with a ready-made product.

## What to check before you sign up

1. **What a minute or call costs once you pass the plan.** Overage pricing matters more than the headline price in a busy month.
2. **Whether booking is on your plan.** Several vendors, Vocenya included, keep calendar booking or transfers to higher tiers.
3. **How a caller reaches a person.** A transfer to your cell, a message, or a staffed team: these are not the same thing for an upset customer.
4. **Languages in practice.** "Supports 30 languages" and "answers Spanish-speaking callers on your plan" can be different claims.
5. **HIPAA.** If you handle patient information, you need a signed Business Associate Agreement, not just a "secure" badge.

## AI receptionist or answering service?

An AI receptionist answers every call at once, around the clock, for a flat monthly price. A live answering service puts a trained person on the line, which some callers and some calls still need, at a higher cost per call. Many businesses use both: the AI first, a person for the calls that need one. ## Frequently asked questions

### How much does an AI receptionist cost?

Published starting prices on this page run from free plans and per-minute developer pricing to a few hundred dollars a month. Compare the starting price column, then check what each plan includes, because minutes, booking and transfers are often limited to higher tiers.

### How do you order this list?

By how many of the five checks in the table each vendor meets with a published, sourced fact, then by whether the vendor publishes a price, then alphabetically. Nobody pays to be listed or placed. The methodology page has the full rule.

### Why is Vocenya on this list?

We make Vocenya. It is shown with the same fields and goes through the same ordering rule as every other vendor, and it is labelled "Our product". The featured card at the top is our own ad and says so.
